# Errors

> The error statuses of the publisher Dashboard API and what causes them.

Every error response is JSON with a `detail` field that says what went wrong. The table lists each status and its common causes.

| Status | Description |
| - | - |
| `400` | A parameter is not valid, for example a time zone that does not exist, a bad date, or a date range that is too long. |
| `401` | The `X-API-Key` header is missing, or the key is not valid. |
| `404` | The route isn't available for your account (the user value API is off, or you have no qualifying-request agreement), or the user isn't found. |
| `409` | A placement with the same slug is already in your account. |
| `422` | A required parameter is missing, or a body field or a parameter (for example `days`) is not valid. |
| `429` | Too many requests. Wait for the number of seconds in the `Retry-After` header, then try again. See [Rate limits](https://docs.trygravity.com/api-reference/publisher/overview.md#rate-limits). |
